A walk in my shoes: Great Day

Today has been an all around great day.

This weekend there have been about 10 guys staying at the house. They were here for the Billabong South Africa (surfing)Championship. They were all super nice and had a beer in their hand at all times of the day...reminds me of some of the guys back home...dont worry I won't mention any names haha. just kiddingg. Anways today when I woke up they were all moved out and it was SO nice to not be woken up at 6 by them. But now I am the only one staying in the house, except for Katrin.

I took Jennifer to the airport on Thursday to go meet up with the rest of the people flying in and the whole time she kept talking about how she can't believe it's finally that time to go and this and that. She was nervous but hopefully she's good and dandy now. :] Today when I got the the office I opened my email, like every morning, and had a new email from Avril to do some inventory in her office and two other places. I had absolutely NO idea what on earth I was supposed to do..which has become a normal feeling around here haha. But thankfully I wasn't the only one to receive that email so not only me, but Tammy, were confused as to what to do. But no worries, figured it out. What we were having to do was write up everything in the room that had a barcode on it..like the chairs, desks, computers, shelves, etc. and write the condition/item. All that good stuff. Nathan came in while I was on all fours looking for the barcode on one of the tables and he told me I was very humble for actually going through with all that. Just another day in the office...

I think the people here make work so enjoyable. Today my bag went missing and I was so sure it was meagan who had hid it. When I walked into the room where it had been sitting on the table she just walked by and laughed. After looking for it for 15 min...then starting to accuse other people for taking it, Meagan happened to find it in a box in the donation piles. Ohhh I swear I told them i'm going to start wearing everything I bring or hide it myself. Work with a bunch a hooligans but I wouldn't trade it for a second.

&& another thing that has occurred today, the first group of summer interns have arrived. There are 12 of them and they are going to be placed in different areas of ministry. We get 3 of them with us out in Capricorn which will be nice i'm sure. I met them briefly today and most of them are from Alabama. Its 11 girls and 1 boy. haha we ALL told Tim that we need to do something about that because we have enough girls here as it is. Need to even out the genders.

I got to skype with two of my most favorite people and longtime friends and this was the outcome..

always a blast talking to these two :] love yall!!

OH. so now that Jennifer is gone, I have decided to move up and help Ilana with the older kids. I have been working with the 5-7 years old with Roger the past few months and I think my time will be better spent with the bigger kids, 8-12 year olds. One of the reasons I want to do this is because there is a group of boys in Capricorn that I am trying to reach out to. I've acknowledged the fact that I might not see them change while i'm here but if I can leave them with anything at all I will be happy. They're the boys i've mentioned that are known just as the stubborn..troublemakers of the club. And it's absolutely true but I've always seemed to be pulled towards those kinds of kids. One of them has really gotten good around me and does good in club. We even have made up our own handshake..&& it's awesome, if I say so myself. Then there's another boy who is tough. He rarely smiles and is one i've had to break up fights with. Some days he's good and wants to help me with things and others he could care less. But I keep telling myself one day at a time. He will only change when he wants to and only God knows when that time may be. So I just ask that you pray that I continue to have patience, especially with this guy, and that he opens his heart up to what the Lord wants to teach him. His name is Denzil. that would be greatly appreciated :]

So like I said today has just been a good day. Woke up to a sweet text from someone special and another text that was a verse in Psalms that says "Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted in among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

THEN

work in Capri went well, laughed alot, did some work for club so im actually ahead of the game! for the first time in probably ever.

THEN

went to club and the kids were fantastic! it was almost crazy..all the kids are starting to remember my name which is just so nice. I love the feeling of them coming up and giving me a huge hug around the neck when they get there and then doing the same thing when they leave.

THEN

On my drive home I was blasting the new Miranda Lambert cd...finally updated my itunes last night and that was a new purchase. Glad I did it because I love her and I just needed some new country in my life.

On my way home I pulled onto my street and this is what I saw at the end of it... absolutely beautiful.
