Besides this wonderful weather for us, not too much has been going on here at the village. I had to break up two fights the other day. One of the boys, Ebenezer is really a loose cannon and can just turn mean at a snap of a finger. Apparently he insulted one of the boarders mothers. Haha they are a mess, but after the first hit to the face I pulled them off and stood in between them while they yelled at each other in twi. Lord knows what they were saying. Also we have a wonderful cook here, his name is Reuben and he is just in charge of cleaning the guest houses for new people and cooking for the guests. Well after that huge group of 56, Tommy thought it would be best if he gave him a few days off. Tommy Drinnen is the american living here, has been for about 8 years now I think. Anyways it's actually worked to our favor because for dinner tommy is cooking for us and the first night we had fajitas and last night we had cheeseburgers...delicious! Reuben starts back up tomorrow because there is a group coming in tonight from Portland.
Last night at dinner I asked Tommy about Raul. He said he needs every bit of help he can get. I knew he was behind but goodness. He's about 8 or 9 and doesnt know the alphabet, his colors, anything. I was in the library yesterday working with the reading program and he was in their with tommy and tommy had a little childrens book and would point to things like snakes and ask him what kind of animal is that and he had no idea. I wish I would of found him sooner because I would love to help him learn. There is a guy coming here from ACU that Tommy said is going to have to meet Raul and work with him because he needs the most help. Raul has been starting to yell my name when I walk by his house and wave with a huge smile on his face. Makes me happy!
Well 11 days until I leave here, and 12 days until I am back home. Unbelievable.
Thanks for the prayers not only for me but for this place and these kids.
God is good ALL the time.
Shelby
